A wet day has prompted me to look at some old photographs; I found another good shot of Carmel CC 2nd XI from around 1982. The match was being played at the Golch Farm ground. The team that day included the driving force behind Carmel cricket, the late Stan Taylor. It was Stan - through his sheer love of the game - that encouraged hundreds of boys from the area to play cricket.

Stan Taylor is furthest to the right on the back row, next to yours truly. |
I loved Stan Taylor: he was a driving force in local youth cricket and it was Stan who managed Flintshire Colts when I played in the late '70's. Famous Stan catchphrase: "Bloody hell Jack!"
ReplyDelete"Bloody Hell Jack" will ever be remembered from Stan. Gentleman who instlled a love for cricket in me. Only played for Carmel for a couple of seasons, just before they moved up the road. Best wishes to Stan's family, and anyone involved at the club!
ReplyDeleteStan was always saying 'well done' in fact we called him Stanley well done Taylor when i played with the colts in the early 70's
